Overview

The Gosaikunda Lake Trek is one of the most rewarding short trekking adventures in Nepal. Located inside Langtang National Park, the trail leads to the sacred Gosaikunda Lake at an altitude of 4,380 metres. Revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, the lake attracts thousands of pilgrims each year while also offering spectacular Himalayan scenery.The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche before following forest trails through traditional Tamang villages, peaceful monasteries, and alpine meadows. As the trail climbs higher, dense forests gradually give way to open ridges with panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Manaslu.

The trek is suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. It combines beautiful mountain landscapes, rich Tamang culture, and spiritual significance without requiring domestic flights, making it one of Nepal’s most accessible high-altitude trekking experiences.

The climb above Sing Gompa to Lauribina is the most demanding stretch, but the well-established teahouse network along the entire route means a warm bed and hot meal are always close by. For trekkers short on time but wanting a genuine high-altitude pilgrimage experience, few routes in Nepal deliver as much spiritual and scenic reward in just seven days.

Permits for this trek are issued under Nepal’s Department of Immigration Trekking Permit system, alongside the Langtang National Park entry permit.
