Overview
The Everest View Trek, often called the Short Everest Base Camp Trek, is a popular alternative to the longer and more demanding classic EBC route. Rather than pushing all the way to base camp at 5,364 metres, this trek climbs to Khumjung and the Everest View Hotel area at 3,800 metres, delivering the same breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam in a fraction of the time and with a much lower risk of altitude sickness.
The trek begins with the classic mountain flight to Lukla, then follows the Dudh Koshi valley through Phakding to Namche Bazaar, the main Sherpa trading hub of the Khumbu. From Namche, a day of exploration takes in Khumjung village and the Everest View viewpoint before the trail heads back down the same route. Along the way, the trek passes through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the chance to spot Himalayan wildlife including musk deer and pheasants, and to experience Sherpa Buddhist culture in villages that have hosted trekkers for generations.
